I went for a 3 mile run tonight with Lisa. She is great! I met her at the bike shop. We agreed to do bike rides on Friday mornings, and meet up again on Mondays with Bob and a new girl Devan. This is sooo motivating for me. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have met these people and now train with them. I finally have a circle of people that like to do the things I do. Who would have thought?
But anyway, the run... I met her at her house and we ran from there. We almost didn't run due to the rain. We contemplated it, but decided to do it anyway. I have never run in the rain before. She has so it was no big deal to her. I found it to be the most fun I have had in a long time. It was completely exhilharting. You definately should try it.
I am really excited about this tri. I want to try and be as prepared as possible, both mentally and physically. My run was slow tonight, but better than usual becuase I had Lisa who is way faster than me. I do feel ready for this race.
My goals are:
1.to finish strong
2. to have a 10 min finish in the water
3. to have a 40 min finish for the bike ride
4. to have a 30 min finish for the run
Any supporters out there.... I could really use some of your encouraging words.
5 days away and counting.......

New Challenge!!!
O.k. so I have my very first Sprint Triathlon in 2 weeks!!!! I have been procrastinating about writing this blog, but I think It is so important that I document of my training. To start with I have absolutely no training whatsoever in biking or swimming. I joined a local health club with a friend of mine, who "was" going to do the tri with me, so we could train together. Swimming was horrible for me. I literally knew nothing about the sport. She taught me what she could, she was a good swimmer. She knew boat loads more than me, so she was good enough to teach me the basics. We trained at the gym about 5 nights a week. We started in late January. By February I had quit that gym and she downsized her membership. I get bored very easily... well that is not entirely the reason I left that gym. I left my job so that was issue number 1 (money), I hated leaving my house so late at night to train # 2 (she could only workout after 8pm) and I really dreaded the 40 min ride to the gym. So I decided to join a gym much closer to my house, more inexpensive and a lot nicer. So I began my training alone. Except I met this amazing aquatics director that was so kind to train me in swimming. He watched me swim a couple of laps the first time and actually said I was an easy fix. So in no time I was doing 4 laps without stopping and feeling great about my chances for completing that portion of the race.
so for training this is what my week looks like.
I have no specific training plan, I go for what works for me, what I feel like doing that morning. But I absolutely always work out 6 days per week. 2 days running at least 3 miles (always with at least 1 hill) 2 days biking (I am getting stronger and stronger on the bike!! and 2 days swimming ~ I do 9 laps or 1/4 mile then 6 -9 laps of kick board and then another 1/4 mile. I also do 2 warm up sets followed by 2 cool down sets. I love to swim now. I always did enjoy the water but now I can actually swim the right way, and I can breathe... it is a GREAT feeling!!!
So I am feeling really good. I bought a road bike on ebay, I bought a tri suit just yesterday and everything else is just worry, worry, worry for me. I am getting more nervous as the date quickly approaches. So I will keep logging because I want to look back at this and see what worked what didn't work for me.
